What is Tri-Levels?
Tri-Levels is open to any level of artisan. The entrants are judged by the Kingdom criteria face-to-face with three judges. The entrant chooses the level of expertise his or her entry is judged at (Novice, Intermediate, or Advanced). They compete against the criteria, not each other, although there is usually a Judge's Choice awarded in Court.
What is the Kingdom A&S Championship?
This competition determines the Kingdom of Calontir's Arts and Sciences Champion for the year. This person will champion the arts and sciences in Calontir and will represent the Kingdom to the Known World.
The competition is open to all artisans. Each must enter three different advanced level arts and/or sciences in three separate categories. The judging is face-to-face with three judges and uses the Advanced level criteria.
What are the Kingdom Criteria?
Calontir has an official set of guidelines for judging. There are separate criteria for many different categories of arts and sciences such as bardic, spinning, armor, etc. Most of these guidelines have six sections: Documentation, Authenticity, Workmanship, Complexity, Creativity, and overall Quality. In addition, there are separate levels of guidelines in each category: Novice, Intermediate, and Advanced.
What is face to face judging?
The judges work in consensus to evaluate the entry while sitting with the entrant. This allows the entrant to immediately answer questions the judges may have or elaborate a point that may not be in the documentation. It also gives the entrant the opportunity to solicit tips and suggestions from the judges.
