The last link shows the correct period and color scheme, and how the colors are layered. There are three layers of paint in each section. First, there is a medium to light paint in the space. Next, a darker shade of the same color (in other examples, esp. the Winchester bible, another color can be chosen) is applied, usually starting on one edge, and radiating towards the center, in gentle strips of color. Lastly, on the opposite edge, a few bands of white, or a slightly colored white, is applied.
